✩ ‧₊˚ ✩。FAMILY SECRETS — GOJO SATORU.
contents. fem! + mom! reader, reader is referred to as “mommy” and “wife,” girl dad toru <3, family shenanigans in the grocery store that are unfortunately inescapable when your husband is gojo satoru
“ok,” you nod, looking over your grocery list. “i think that’s everything—”
“mommy, can we please get this,” your daughter looks up at you pleadingly, tugging at your sleeve as she holds a bag of candy—she has satoru’s eyes, wide and blue and so easy to give into. you look at her for a moment before pursing your lips.
“no, satoru. we can’t get this bag of candy.” you turn to the devil himself, glaring at him as he whistles innocently.
“what’re you lookin’ at me for, sweetheart? our little peanut here wants—”
“satoru.”
“fine,” he deflates. you pinch your nose as you sigh.
satoru, in his thirty plus years of life, has surprisingly never had a cavity for how much sugar he consumes. he’s good at taking care of himself, he argues, there’s no chance he’d ever get a cavity. that is, until recently. he visits the dentist and has not one, but two cavities—you think this is a rather alarming sign that he needs to cut back on the sweets, so you take matters into your own hands.
and, well….he’s not handling it very brightly.
“you thought i’d cave just because you tricked our daughter into asking?” you raise a brow, making him huff as he pouts.
“what kind of heartless soul could say no to those eyes?” he asks in disbelief, waving a hand at the small carbon copy of your husband as she blinks up at you, “i mean look at her! she doesn’t deserve the word no.”
“she definitely needs the word no so she doesn’t end up spoiled like you. and i’ve had plenty of practice,” you shoot blandly, “i’ve said no to your eyes all these years haven’t i?”
“even crazier,” he mutters, “i have the most adorable eyes, how could you say no?”
“it’s pretty easy if you ask me,” you shrug.
most people tend to call satoru arrogant—humble is not usually used in the same sentence as gojo satoru. evidently, they’ve never watched him interact with you before—you always find a way to humble him. he’s starting to think he’s the butt of every joke in his own marriage.
“please, baby?” he pouts deeper, “i’ve been good! i floss!”
“no.”
“what if i fold the laundry for a month?” he bats his lashes.
that’s tempting, you have to admit. folding laundry is a very boring job, you’re more than happy to hand it over to satoru for a bag of candy that barely dents your wallet. but then you find your resolve again, crossing your arms as you stare at him unimpressed.
“no, satoru.”
“two months?”
“nope.”
“did you only marry me for my looks?” he asks in disbelief, “because there’s not one ounce of love in that heart of yours.”
“this is for your own good, satoru,” you say firmly, “you had two cavities. how much sugar have you been consuming lately? and don’t think i don’t notice you skipping meals when you’re busy—a chocolate bar does not replace lunch.”
you’re glaring at him, drilling him for his health choices that are not his fault—he’s a busy guy, and he can’t help that a chocolate bar on his way to a mission is all he can squeeze in sometimes. maybe a protein bar would be a better option, but they’re not as tasty, and satoru thinks he deserves to be happy. and then, from the end of the aisle, you hear a few snickers coming from passerby’s. he pouts deeper at the thought of being laughed at as he gets scolded by his wife in the middle of the breakfast aisle.
“what’s the point of living if you’re gonna be miserable?” he groans, “we might as well just start going to bed at nine pm too, while we’re at it. and—”
“that’s actually a lovely idea,” you hum thoughtfully, “you certainly could use the sleep, couldn’t you?”
he glares at you petulantly, sulking as you grab the bag from your daughter’s and put it on the shelf—it’s not the right place, but taking a trip to the candy aisle to place it where it belongs is only venturing deeper into the lion’s den. you’re not letting satoru have more options to choose from.
“you seein’ this, angel?” he turns to your daughter, “you see how mean mommy is? she’s not letting us have candy. make sure you remember that when i ask you who’s your favorite again.”
you roll your eyes, snorting. satoru asks her playfully one night who the favorite parent is—it’s a meaningless question, meant to be a joke and nothing else. you’re sure he expects her to say both—but he gets his feelings severely hurt when she giggles and points to you, staring in disbelief as you grin in victory and kiss her cheeks. you even rub salt on the wound when you mumble she’s your favorite baby too.
he’s starting to really think he’s a victim in his own household.
“but mommy gives me candy,” she tilts her head in confusion.
oh no. she’s not supposed to say that—she promised not to say that. why can’t children ever keep a filter on their words? and why can’t they keep their promises?
almost like in slow motion, both of your eyes widen. satoru pauses. you start to sweat. he turns to face you slowly, in abject disbelief.
“what?” you laugh nervously, “no i don’t! we don’t have any candy at home—”
“she keeps it in her drawer!” your daughter adds, as if she wants to see your downfall.
you love your daughter, you really do—but sometimes you think motherhood is a punishment for whatever sin it is that you’ve committed in your previous life. satoru crosses his arms and taps his foot.
“what happened to we’ll all give up sweets together so you’re not alone, toru,” he mocks your voice, squinting at you accusingly. “so we’re a family of liars now?”
“toru, listen—”
“i trusted you.”
“baby—”
“what happened to our wedding vows? what happened to in sickness and in death? a little cavity is enough to change all that? i’m scared to think what you’d do if i lost an arm.”
“well, you’re not the strongest for nothing,” you point out, chuckling nervously, “so we have nothing to worry about there.”
“i can’t believe you,” he spits, turning away from you with crossed arms and a quiet hmph.
“toru, you can’t expect us all to give up sugar just because you can’t stop making poor health choices,” you argue exasperatedly.
so what if you secretly enjoy a kitkat here and there? you deserve it for dealing with not one, but two children at home every single day—sometimes three if shoko comes over, her lifestyle choices aren’t any better. satoru should let you enjoy a piece of candy or two until he fixes his terrible habits that could very well set a terrible example for your very young and impressionable daughter.
“well, i have adult money of my own,” satoru huffs, “and as an adult, i’ll be purchasing my own candy to hide in my own drawer that i won’t share with you since we’re now apparently a family that doesn’t think sharing is caring.”
“i don’t know if i’m raising one child or two,” you sigh tiredly, rubbing a hand over your face.
satoru grabs the bag of candy off the shelf, promptly placing it in the cart before walking off ahead of you as he pushes it. your daughter grabs your hand and smiles, tugging you along.
“c’mon mommy,” she says brightly, “you said we can go to the park!”
—————— BONUS ——————
“are you serious, satoru?” you ask incredulously, watching as he comes back to sit on the other end of the bench, ice cream cone in hand.
he didn’t even bring you one—what an asshole.
“oh sorry,” he shrugs, “i figured you and our daughter were planning on getting ice cream on your own without me. since, you know, apparently you guys love to have lots of things without me.”
“you’re being so dramatic—”
“i want ice cream too!” you hear a small voice call from the distance, making you turn to your daughter as she sprints over to you from the playground, eyeing the cone in satoru’s hand.
“you heard her,” he drawls, licking at his strawberry ice cream mockingly, “why don’t you go buy her a secret cone. i won’t look.”
being a single mom of two is a full time job, you think, you didn’t sign up for this.
guess who has two cavities ?? a certain brother of mine. guess who’s entire household has to give up sweets now for their brother’s inability to have proper dental hygiene ?? if you guessed me, you might just be psychic :O

You know those cheesy pasta dishes with all the fancy add-ins like heavy cream and garlic so we can all pretend to ourselves that we aren't just eating mac and cheese like overgrown children? What sort of equivalent dishes do the people of Tamriel enjoy, that are basically just dressed-up "kid food" dishes?
Who doesn't love a cheeky meal that brings back memories of childhood? Across Tamriel, you'll find all manner of simple, hearty foods that will make you feel like a kid again!
Altmer
In Summerset, young and old alike enjoy mochi, a tasty sweet snack made from chewy glutinous rice flour. Mochi comes in many varieties, with fillings like sweet peanut or black sesame paste. However, almost everyone's favourite is a cold mochi filled with soft gelato of various flavours. My favourite combination is matcha mochi wrapped around a moreish azuki bean ice cream centre.
Argonians
Is there anything that makes you feel more like a kid than some snacking? Argonians are huge fans of anything that packs a crunch, both sweet and savoury. Whether it's spicy and sweet crickets, dark saltrice sauce-coated mealworms, or just good old prawn crackers with some dipping sambal, be prepared to snack your way all day long in Black Marsh.
Bosmer
If you're one of those people who stands in the kitchen gnawing a block of cheese at midnight, you're in good company in Valenwood. A popular late-night treat served at street food vendors across the Province is a simple cup of grilled witchetty grubs slathered in timber mammoth cheese sauce and topped with pulled pork. The grubs are meaty in flavour, and the pungent timber mammoth cheese complements the pulled pork when mixed all together, as the locals enjoy it.
Bretons
Pain au chocolat? Yes please! These deliciously buttery puffed pastries are essentially rectangular croissants enveloping delicious dark chocolate. Served warm, they're sure to make any breakfast or teatime a happy one! To really satisfy those chocolate cravings, pair with a classic Breton hot chocolate, complete with marshmallows and whipped cream.
Dunmer
Marshmerrow cake is the ubiquitous Dunmeri dessert that has gained popularity far beyond the borders of Morrowind due to its mild flavour and unique candy aroma. A soft sponge cake, which is sometimes soaked in comberry brandy, is layered with sweet marshmerrow crème patissiere, caramelised marshmerrow crumble, and maraschino comberries. Sure to knock some years off your age and put a couple more holes in your belt (it's impossible to stop at one slice. Source: me).
Imperials
There's nothing quite like homemade gnocchi with ragout for Imperials when it comes to comfort food. While this homey dish is prevalent across Cyrodiil, every household cooks the dish differently. In mine, my mother pan-fries the gnocchi in an obnoxious amount of butter, and tops it with her top-secret slow-cooked lamb and red wine ragout. While I cannot give away the secrets to her ragout, I highly recommend trying this delicious dish a try when you need to warm yourself, body and soul.
Khajiit
If you think you can turn away cinnamon and cardamom churros with a cup of moon sugar caramel dip, you're deluding yourself. This delicious treat can be found across Elsweyr and is considered one of the Province's most famous foods. Khajiiti churros, which are made from a mix of rice and tapioca flour, have a moist and chewy texture beneath a crisp, golden brown outer layer. They're served hot from the wok, with a cup of moon sugar caramel syrup. A truly divine pairing!
Nords
Spätzle is something I've written about in the past, and it's one of the best things I know (ask any resident of Skyrim and they'd tell you the same). These chunky egg noodles may look unrefined compared to Khajiiti vermicelli, but make up for it when liberally doused in a creamy cheese sauce and topped with fried onions. I like spicing mine up, quite literally, with some chili powder I purchased at a Sentinel bazaar.
Orcs
Nothing screams comfort food (and mess) quite like a good old echatere sausage hot dog. The echatere sausage, rather akin to Blackwood chorizo in flavour, is grilled over hot coals and served in a sourdough bun, served Wrothgar style with a good amount of horseradish mayo, fried radish chips, caramelised onions, pickles, and crispy dried baby shrimp topping. I'd say you can't stop at just one, but it's a hefty meal you can eat with one hand!
Redguards
I have probably written about gulab jamun in the past, a delicious, albeit cloying dessert popular throughout Hammerfell. An iconic dish at festivals and parties, gulab jamun is prized by dessert-lovers for its velvety, syrupy texture. These fluffy balls of cardamom-scented cottage cheese are fried and soaked in a fragrant saffron and rose water syrup, and topped with crushed pistachios. So simple, so good, and so moreish. Just be sure to stop at three, because any more and the sugar rush will send you to Aetherius!

Bugust. Day 4 (Buggy x OC). Lovestruck.
"You can't do anything, bunch of idiots. Fuck off! Break for--" Buggy opened the door to his cabinet. "Cotton candy? What are you doing here?"
"First of all, hi!" Catherine waved her hand, sitting on the table.
"Hi!"
"Second, I brought you.. Guess what?" She lifted the box in her hands, "Sandwiches."
"Just sandwiches?" Buggy giggled.
"Yes. Food only. Don't forget about the ban, my blue-haired love." Catherine chuckled. "I don't know.. I thought.. " She dangled her feet. "You've been sitting here late for days, I missed you. I don't think Cabaji and his girlfriends bring you food."
"And what kind of sandwiches did you bring me?" Buggy took off his hat and threw it on the couch.
"Look. There's a peanut butter sandwich. With salmon and cream cheese. With meat balls and your favorite! With hot cheese." Catherine jumped off the table, ran over and pecked Buggy on the cheek. "Sit down, I'll make you some coffee. You need so--- Why.. Why are you smiling, clown?"
"I'm not smiling." Buggy stepped over to his desk and plopped into a chair. "It's.. Fuck, I'm tired. I don't know, strange. A year ago, I didn't think anyone would be bringing me sandwiches."
"I didn't think I'd be living in Cairo either when I worked at the library." Catherine picked up a cup of freshly brewed coffee and walked toward Buggy. "You know, one obese woman worked with me, and she talked in that old, creaky voice all the time." Catherine started imitating her. "Oh, sweet Catherine, you're single. You need to find a good man." She set the coffee on the table and stroked Buggy's head, watching him take a bite of the sandwich. "Tasty?"
"Very. Especially this one with peanut butter. It always tastes so fucking good., Cathie-pie." Buggy took another big bite of bread. "How do you make it taste so good? A seemingly simple piece of bread and peanut butter, but so delicious." He took another bite, sipped his coffee loudly, and noticed Catherine's happy face. "Why are you smiling?"
"It's just... I'm sorry, but you're so sweet now." Catherine kissed the top of his head.
"I'm not sweet, cotton candy." Buggy took the next sandwich, took a bite of it, and continued rambling with his mouth full. "I'm a scary grown man."
"Chew then speak, a scary grown man." Catherine kissed the top of his head again. Three times. And saw Buggy was trying to hide the smile on his face. "You should see yourself right now. Happily eating food, sipping coffee. As for the sandwich, I just mashed a banana and mixed it with this peanut butter. My mom used to do that and then wrapped sandwiches for us at school." Catherine continued to stroke Buggy's head, bowing her head slightly. "No! That woman from the library was wrong. I haven't found a good man."
Buggy stopped chewing for a second and looked at her in surprise.
"I found a better one, my flashy fool." Catherine kissed him in his temple, rested her cheek on his head, and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I love you so much, my Buggy Bear."
Buggy took a meatball sandwich. "You know, I'd love to answer you," he took a big bite, "But this is so fucking delicious." He rolled his eyes in pleasure. "Damn, so tasty." Buggy swallowed a bite and sipped his coffee. "But I love you, too, my cotton candy."

(Mis)Adventures of Little Wednesday- aka Wednesday’s mirror image niece
“Lunch Time- a new friend?”
The gang sat together. Jack sat at the end of the table. Ruthie placed his bowl on the floor with his food
GomezJr: the field trip yesterday was fun
Koda: even though we go to the farm all the time
Ruthie: did Raya like the honey candy, Koda? You know my mom hand makes every batch, right?
Koda: very much. Yes! That why Raya like so much. Much more tasty honey flavor than store bought honey candy
Little Wednesday: we have so much honey at the house. Auntie Weenie brought home a lot.
Dayton and Aiyon approached the table.
Tyler: oh oh.
Dayton: Wednesday. I want to apologize for how I’ve been treating you. Thank you for the stuffed chicken.
Little Wednesday was suspicious
Dayton: no really. I heard my mom talking to your, Auntie Weenie. I don’t know what your Auntie said. But I’m not letting my mom take the chicken. I like it.
Little Wednesday: really?
Dayton: yeah. My mom and dad don’t let me play with stuffed animals. They say it’s for girls or sissies.
GomezJr: really? Gee. My dad gave me his plushie lion he had as a kid. And Wednesday has Auntie Weenie’s stuffed cockroach.
Dayton: that’s neat! - looking at Little Wednesday’s lunch- are those fried bugs?
Little Wednesday: crickets. Not the ghost pepper ones Tyler likes. Auntie Weenie makes them seasoned with chile, lime, garlic, onion, and salt. Want to try one?
Dayton: sure. I’ll try one. And if I don’t like it I promise not to spit it out on your food.
Aiyon: what are you doing? Why are you being nice to her? You know she bought those stuffed things to make fun of us, right?
Dayton: yes. And I thought it was funny. I was running around like a chicken as I was being chased by chickens. And besides the stuffed chicken is kinda cute.
Little Wednesday: name it Wednesday and you die. I’ll learn my Auntie’s teleport spell and drop a bag of piranha in your bath
Dayton chuckled as he popped the cricket in his mouth and ate it.
Dayton: those are rather tasty. I’m sorry for making fun of your food.
Aiyon: what is wrong with you? Are you going soft? I’m going to go kick around some kids on the playground. Have fun with your new girlfriend, Dayton.
Ruthie: ew.
Tyler: have you had lunch? Would you like to sit with us and try some more new foods?
Dayton: sure! My mom only packs me a half sandwich, a small bag of chips and a small bottle of water. Today my sandwich was peanut butter and honey.
Ruthie: my dad’s honey?
Dayton: yes. Koda, sit next to Wednesday. That way it doesn’t look like I’m her girlfriend after Aiyon’s remark
Koda: O.K
The gang made room for Dayton and enjoyed their lunch sharing food with him.

National M&M Day
Enjoy the rainbow of candy colors surrounding delicious bits of chocolate in a bag of tasty M&Ms!
History of National M&M Day
Invented in 1941, these tiny little bits of candy coated chocolate have made a huge impact on American history throughout their more than 80 years of life!
The inspiration behind M&Ms started during the Spanish Civil War when Forrest Mars Sr. (of the Mars Candy Company), who lived in England at the time, began making small bits of chocolate with a candy shell coating that would keep them from melting as easily. Following this inspiration, M&Ms were created by the Mars Candy Company and these little candies have brought joy to millions of people over the years.
During World War II, M&Ms were made exclusively available to the United States military who provided them to their soldiers. Packed in cardboard tubes, these heat resistant and easily transported candies became part of the US soldiers’ rations during the war.
But it wasn’t until 1950, after the war, that M&Ms finally got their now iconic little “m” stamp. After copycat companies came about, M&Ms customers were encouraged with a marketing program to “look for the ‘m’ on every piece”.
In 1981, M&Ms became the first candy to ever go up into space! The very same reasons that these little candies were handy for wartime rations also made them perfect for travel into space. NASA’s first space shuttle, Columbia, took the little candies out of the earth’s orbit and into space.
Now, National M&M Day is here to pay honor to this candy that has been so much a part of American culture and is certainly beloved all over the world!
How to Celebrate National M&M Day
A myriad of fun ways can be found to enjoy and celebrate National M&M Day! Try out some of these ideas:
Enjoy M&Ms Candies
On this day, grab a bag of M&Ms to have as an afternoon pick-me-up or a snack after dinner. While they are perfectly delicious when eaten on their own, they can also make a great addition to trail mixes or even sprinkled on top of ice cream.
Don’t forget when eating M&Ms that many different options are available, including the plain M&Ms that come in the classic brown package or the peanut version that comes in the yellow bag. Other options that have been a hit over the years include peanut butter M&Ms (orange bag), Crispy M&Ms (blue bag) or mint M&Ms (green bag).
Share M&Ms Candies
The great thing about National M&M Day is that these little candies are perfect for sharing! Grab a huge bag and take it to the office to pass around to coworkers. Or get a large container of the mini bags to send to school with the kids in celebration of the day.
Bake with M&Ms
These little pieces of chocolatey rainbow goodness are excellent when used as an ingredient in baking. Try them out as a substitute for the chocolate chips in cookies or add them to granola and create some no-bake granola bars. M&Ms are also great when eaten with popcorn or added to a brownie recipe. The options are virtually endless for National M&M Day!

Easy Caramel Peanut Clusters Recipe
If you’re looking for a quick, indulgent treat that combines rich caramel with the crunch of peanuts and the smoothness of chocolate, Caramel Peanut Clusters are the perfect solution. These bite-sized delights are made with just a few simple ingredients but pack a big punch in flavor. They offer the ideal balance of sweet, salty, and crunchy textures, making them a favorite for anyone who loves decadent desserts.
Whether you’re making them as a treat for yourself, a holiday gift, or a dessert for a gathering, these clusters are easy to make and guaranteed to satisfy.
Why You’ll Love This Caramel Peanut Clusters Recipe
Caramel Peanut Clusters are a classic candy treat that combines everything we love about indulgent snacks—rich, gooey caramel, roasted peanuts, and creamy chocolate. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also incredibly simple to prepare. With just a few steps and minimal ingredients, you’ll have a batch of these tasty clusters ready in no time.
Plus, they’re versatile! You can make a big batch and store them for later, give them as homemade gifts, or enjoy them as a quick snack when your sweet tooth strikes.
Ingredients for Caramel Peanut Clusters
Here’s what you’ll need to make a batch of these irresistible clusters:
2 cups roasted, salted peanuts
1 package (11 oz) caramels (unwrapped)
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
Step-by-Step Recipe for Caramel Peanut Clusters
Step 1: Melt the Caramels
In a medium saucepan, combine the unwrapped caramels and heavy cream. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the caramels are completely melted and smooth. Be sure to stir constantly to prevent the caramel from burning.
Step 2: Add the Peanuts
Once the caramel mixture is smooth and melted, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the roasted, salted peanuts. Mix until all the peanuts are evenly coated with the caramel.
Step 3: Form the Clusters
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the peanut-caramel mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small clusters. You should be able to make about 15-20 clusters, depending on the size.
Allow the clusters to cool at room temperature until the caramel sets. You can also speed up the process by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
Step 4: Melt the Chocolate
While the clusters are cooling, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips. You can do this using a double boiler or the microwave. If using the microwave, heat the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. If desired, stir in the coconut oil for a shinier, smoother chocolate coating.
Step 5: Coat the Clusters
Once the caramel peanut clusters have cooled and set, dip each one into the melted chocolate, ensuring that they are fully coated. You can use a fork or spoon to help coat each cluster and transfer them back to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 6: Let the Chocolate Set
After coating the clusters in chocolate, allow them to cool and harden. You can leave them at room temperature or speed up the process by placing them in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
Tips for Making the Best Caramel Peanut Clusters
Use high-quality chocolate: For the best flavor, choose a good-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate. You can also use milk chocolate if you prefer a sweeter taste.
Be patient with the caramel: Melt the caramels slowly over low heat to avoid burning or seizing. If your caramel starts to harden while forming clusters, just gently reheat it over low heat.
Customize with different nuts: While peanuts are traditional, you can switch things up by using other nuts like almonds, pecans, or cashews.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt: For an extra layer of flavor, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the chocolate before it sets. This enhances the sweet and salty contrast.
Store properly:ᅠStore your caramel peanut clusters in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge. They will keep for up to a week, making them a great make-ahead treat.
Why This Recipe Works
This recipe works because it combines classic ingredients that complement each other perfectly—salty roasted peanuts, rich caramel, and smooth chocolate. The texture of the crunchy peanuts, the chewiness of the caramel, and the creamy chocolate coating make every bite a delightful experience. Plus, the simplicity of this recipe means you can make a large batch without a lot of fuss, making it ideal for entertaining or gifting.
Serving Suggestions for Caramel Peanut Clusters
For parties: Serve these clusters as part of a dessert tray or candy buffet. They’re easy to grab and enjoy, making them perfect for gatherings.
As a gift: Wrap the clusters in a festive box or bag for a homemade gift that’s sure to impress friends and family.
As a snack: Keep a batch of these clusters on hand for a quick and satisfying snack when you’re craving something sweet and salty.
Conclusion
Caramel Peanut Clusters are a simple yet decadent treat that’s perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. With just a handful of ingredients and easy steps, you can create a dessert that’s both indulgent and impressive. Whether you’re making them for a party, as a gift, or just for yourself, these clusters are a guaranteed hit.

last week i attempted to make a caramel sauce but i cooked it just a little too long, forgetting that it continues to cook for a while after removing from the heat. so it ended up hard and grainy in the fridge- but still extremely tasty
so i decided to heat it back up and add peanuts, to make it more like a candy treat instead 😋 i am not a candy maker though, i dont know the correct process or temps or anything. im just tryin to turn a mistake into somethin somewhat intentional lol
this pic is right before i put it in the fridge to set, so ill check back in later for an update of how it turned out!
#i talk about life n stuff#its been so long since i foodposted that i dont remember if i had a cooking tag. oh well

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #249
I got a little too ambitious today during work, trying to carry a large stack of used trays back to where they're supposed to go.
The weight of them, in and of itself, isn't too much for me. But it was a little too much for whatever stupid-ass rib injury I've got going on. I thought it would be fine; I've been doing the new exercises, and overall, I feel better than I have in a while. But… sheesh, even going on 10 hours after the fact, the space just under where my collarbone connects to my sternum, all the way to the space just under where my collarbone connects to my shoulder, still hurts like crazy. Ibuprofen takes the edge off a little, but it's probably gonna be a day or three before the area stops being pissed off.
Sephiroth. I used to be someone who could move an entire full-sized refrigerator - BY MYSELF. The combined weight of those trays is absolutely. fucking. TRIVIAL. compared to what I used to be capable of. I cannot describe to you how frustrating my current state of affairs is. A non-trivial portion of my psyche wants to scream and pull out my hair and thrash around in searing, white-hot, all-consuming rage. Except I CAN'T EVEN FUCKING DO THAT, because it would PISS OFF THE GODDAMN RIB INJURY. WHAT THE FUCK.
…
…But it's fine. We take a deep breath. And then we make cookies instead. I made a bunch of 'em today, and as I promised yesterday, I got you some tasty pictures. Here:
...Two pictures of the same rack, representing 300 cookies. There's 3 trays of candy-coated chocolate on top, then 2 trays of oatmeal raisin, and then 5 trays of chocolate chip. Each tray contains 30 cookies.
...But wait!!! There's more!!!
...These trays are 24 cookies each. There are two chocolate chunk, one oatmeal raisin, one oatmeal cranberry, one chocolate-caramel, one macadamia and white chocolate, and then another one called "monster". But that one is just peanuts with candy-coated chocolate - absolutely delectable. This rack represents 168 cookies. So, all told, I baked 468 cookies today. I have put into this world at least 468 reasons to smile. And I think that's pretty fucken rad!!
Aside from that, I sliced, bagged, and labeled bread, and then bagged and labeled a bunch of rolls and bagels and such. I really like slicing up the seeded rye bread with our fancy (but kinda loud and scary) bread slicer, because then the smell of the carraway seeds comes out, and oh my goodness, it's so good!
...And then it was time to go home. I still don't have a name tag or official shirts, because this whole time, they were out of name tags and shirts, for some reason. But I was told this time, at the end of my shift, that I should try checking out the Customer Service desk to see if these things came in. There are shirts now. But my name tag is still absent. That's okay. The person there called a gentleman to fetch me the shirts I needed.
I was surprised when I saw the gentleman; he was about as tall as you, actually, and I was awestruck. And then when he handed my the shirts, I was really grateful, and so I smiled at him, and... oh, Sephiroth, the smile he returned to me was radiant and full of joy, and it was so good to have been able to see it!!
...I hope that I get to see you smile like that someday, for reasons that are wholesome and good, instead of for reasons that are sad.
Anyway, from there, I had to go to the bank. You see, my work pants were accidentally washed with my debit card and my driver's license still in the pockets. And when they came out of the wash, my license was there, but my debit card was not. This happened... sheesh, a number of days ago, now. And so I finally resigned myself to the fact that I'm gonna hafta get a new debit card (which means I need to update a bunch of things on the internet, which is kind of annoying, but doable...), and after my shift, I went to the nearby bank to get that done... only to discover that, since it's Saturday, they closed half an hour before my shift at work ended. Sigh.
...There was nothing for it but to return home. So that is what I did. Shortly after that, I had to go with J to Great Barrington again. Except!!!! This time!!!!! J drove!!!!! And so I got pictures!!!! I got like 600 of them!!!! But I can only show you 26 of them, because this space allows for only 30 pictures at most, and 4 of those 30 have been taken up by cookies. So I tried to pick out the best ones; they're gonna be all out of order, but I hope you'll like them:
...Unfortunately, this is as many as I can fit into this letter. And that's a real shame, because there were SO MANY GOOD PICTURES THIS TIME, holy cannoli!!!
...But!!! If you thought I was done just yet, you are sorely mistaken!!! Because after I wrote last night's letter, the crickets were out, and they were SUPER LOUD. And so I took a video of them singing for you, because I thought... maybe you miss the sound sometimes. Here:
youtube
...Sorry that the screen is mostly black. My camera can't capture things when it's dark out. I did capture Momma for a brief second though, even if she was blurry. She was clawing at the screen door, and the sound caught my attention, and so in typical ADHD fashion, I turned around. Whoops.
Anyway. I hope you like it. Maybe if you have some trouble sleeping, you can use this sound.
...I don't really have much else to write about today. But, thank you for coming along with me on this journey. I'm gonna get ready and go to sleep now, methinks.
I love you. Please stay safe out there so that you can follow me on tomorrow's adventures. Because I will write to you tomorrow. Count on it.
Your friend, Lumine

hi! i saw ur post about not eating sugar and was wondering what a typical day of eating looks like for you without any sugar? (if you're comfortable sharing, of course)
I just cut out added sugars. I still eat fruits and grains and stuff that has sugars naturally in them.
I am also a person with a sweet tooth. I like desserts. But I also like problem solving and making things and experimenting with recipes.
I'm not eating splenda or honey or agave syrup or anything like that. That's added sugar according to me.
So instead of adding sugar to things, I just eat raisins. SO MANY RAISINS. I made raisin rice the other day which was very good. It's almost like a dessert. Sort of. Also oatmeal with raisins and peanut butter is good every time.
The other day I made fried bananas for dessert. The recipe for the batter has sugar in it. But I just figured bananas are sweet enough so I cut the sugar out of the recipe.
Mango is an easy dessert that I love. There's also cotton candy grapes. And pomegranate. I've researched all the sweetest fruits lol.
I'm a chocolate lover. And I still eat chocolate sometimes! I make what I call "almost hot chocolate." It's one teaspoon of plain unsweetened cocoa powder whisked into a mug of hot milk. And then maybe add some cinnamon or nutmeg or something like that. And no added sugar. It's not bitter at all! It's a very soothing warm drink.
Almost all cereal is packed with sugar. But I found some generic rice puffs with zero sugar added. They're pretty good with fruit! I eat a lot of plain yogurt with fruit. But I get whole fat yogurt to make it rich and tasty. I also put a LOT of butter on my toast. Do you see where I'm going with this? For my "desserts" and "treats" I just replace added sugar with added fat!
Almost every single American grocery product has sugar added. Even savory things like breads, cereals, and crackers. You really have to check labels. So I'll let myself get something with just 1g added sugar if I can't find anything with no added sugar. There's a kind of cracker I like with 1g added sugar. And there's cinnamon raisin english muffins. Those cinnamon raisin english muffins are AMAZING! And they only have 1g added sugar.
Cutting added sugar out of my diet was actually way easier than I thought it'd be. I did it gradually and not in a rigid or disordered way. It was a process of gradually changing food habits and learning a new eating pattern.
Without a large daily sugar intake, I'm hungry all the time! My stomach literally vacuums up all the fruits and vegetables and bread I buy. I eat SO much bread now. And I get so many new cravings all the time. I can't satisfy cravings with sugar so I have to think "okay what else can I do?" That's why I started putting raisins in rice and frying bananas lol. I think cravings are important. And a diet with a high amount of added sugar can mess with how you respond to cravings.
Also, like I mentioned in a previous post, I feel less groggy and foggy.

As soon as I saw that you were alright with asks for your rogues I went ham, my professor thinks I'm insane. Anywho, what kinds of sweets do they like?
I'll answer this for the rogues I think about the most
Jervis - Jervis has a huge sweet tooth. This is very specific but she loves a lemon drizzle cake. Whenever he gets a craving for something sweet he'll mess around in the kitchen a bunch and bake something.
Jonathan - Jonathan is in the middle of being a savory and sweet guy. For anything sweet, he doesn't really have a preference. He was deprived of junk food as a kid so now he's making up for lost time sorta. His favorite candy is probably circus peanuts if he had to choose. Edward is repulsed by it.
Harley - Pop rocks are her favorite candy no doubt. They're fun and tasty!
Edward - He likes pistachio ice cream because for one, it's green, and two he thinks people don't give pistachio ice cream enough love. He is a pistachio ice cream apologist.

xiao-yu trying to start a black market for baos? He's got candy and snacks and Forbidden Leaflets, which he's happily exchanging for other snacks and cuddles and stories.
Take 2 of the black market mostly features tasty doupi (fried beancurd cakes with meat, egg, and seafood) from Wei Wuxian's kitchen, sweet roasted chestnuts and peanuts from the meal kits Lan Wangji makes for Sizhui, and lots of Forbidden Leaflets (aka, pages that Xiao-Yu painstakingly copied from a kids' edition of TGCF, his favorite book of all time). Meanwhile, Minghui is out bartering old notes from LQR's classes in exchange for worn-out shoes: only his parents know where he got the notes, and no one has the faintest idea what he does with all the shoes.

Coffee: Even more popular (to the mice) than the champagne is the coffee. It comes in all types - from light, medium, to dark, french-pressed or drip, espresso or latte - but you’re pretty sure the staff is drinking more of it than you are. Rodents love caffeine… who would have thought
Bitter tastes had never suited him, but there's something about the aroma of coffee that makes him wish they did — But only things like coffee candy that little grannies passed him on occasion really met his tastes.
And didn't make him buzz like he was grazed by one Elthunder too many, but that's peanuts. Still, there's a bajillion blends that he never even thought existed, and the mice are chugging the stuff like it's water. Maybe it's not as strong? Maybe there's a kind that's more creamy than bitter?
When Kurth approaches with two cups of coffee, one clearly to offer, Edward meets him with a beam, takes it gratefully, and takes a big old sip; It's more milk and sugar than coffee, with a slight hint of hazelnut.
"Oh, this stuff's fantastic!" he laughs, wiping a bit of foam away with the back of his hand. If it does make him start vibrating half a foot to the left of himself later, he'll deal with that when it happens. Hey, the drink's tasty! "Thanks, Kurth!"
Another sip, more adventurous this time, before he holds up his hand, palm out to show off the blue mark. "By the way, you want a handshake? You don't have a water flower yet!"

It’s been years since I updated the ref of my Easter Bunny fursona Loh! She’s my favorite character that I’ve made and I always look forward to drawing her around Easter every year! I have like... a lot of information about her, so I put it all here!
The Bunny
She calls herself an Easter bunny. And it’s easy to understand why. Each year, weeks before the spring equinox begins, a human that goes by the name Loh turns into a pink and golden bunny. Though, as she would add, it’s more of an illusion of a bunny. She’s pink after all, and has the unique ability to lay candy eggs. Real bunnies don’t do that.
In modern society, that would be an Easter bunny, wouldn’t it? Only, Easter bunnies were only known to exist in stories... Myths. Legends even. Or corporate merchandising I suppose. But not in reality. Until, Loh became one. With a few twists of course. Her long ears can stand up, bend out, or flop behind her, mimicking several breeds of bunny without any of the drawbacks. She has paw pads, common in old cartoons by animators that never studied a real bunny, but different from the reality that bunnies simply do not have them. That, or a kitty-like nose or pointed teeth akin to cats and foxes. Loh still imagined her smile looked better this way, and she was an omnivore so it only made sense. Bunnies can’t eat chocolate after all, and as a candy fiend she could not be denied her own flavorful confections.
The truth was. She was a chimera. An amalgamation of creatures that exist, along with ones that don’t, in a unique form that is simply her. Those ears are not just for show. In fact, they are there to listen to the candy-focused wants of others. If someone says the name of a candy, she will lay an egg with that exact candy inside it! How eggciting!
The Eggs
When someone says the name of a candy, Loh will lay an egg with that candy inside. Simply saying “Chocolate!” will get you a tasty milk chocolate egg (her favorite, and the default) that would put any popular brand of chocolate to shame! You need to be specific if you want dark or white chocolate. If you say “Twix!” or perhaps “Cadbury Creme” you will find eggs with a shell design very similar to the wrappers of each respective “brand”. Only, Loh will assure you, they will taste far better than store bought!
But what’s the limit that she can make exactly? Well, as Loh will put it simply, she can lay a candy egg of anything treat she’s eaten at least once. By eating any candy, her unique ability will allow her to make a higher quality version of it. Fortunately for others, despite candies that she despises (anything with peanuts!), she has forced herself to learn recipes of things she hates to eat, so that she can still make those candy eggs for others. Just because she doesn't like Snickers bars, doesn’t mean she would deny someone their favorite treat!
When it comes to other non-brand specific chocolates, the eggs will take on patterns that she enjoys. Some of her own unique designs she’s made as an artist might appear, but more commonly ones from the Pokémon franchise. Why? She thinks they’re cute. The Togepi egg design being her favorite, you will almost always find one nearby. The eggs often vary in size, but would be recognizably the same size as a chicken egg on average, only more colorful.
Every egg Loh lays is unique, perfectly delicious, edible, sterile, and safe to eat. An interesting attribute to her candy eggs would be that they have the same nutritional value as iceberg lettuce... That is, if you eat too many, you won’t face the same consequences as their real life counterparts. So, if you could choose between over eating on chocolate, skip the Hersheys and enjoy the fact that you can indulge on these candy eggs! You might still find yourself too full though. Eat in moderation!
The Lore
So, why is all of this a thing? Why does Loh turn into an Easter bunny? And why that of all things? Just like with any special interest, it starts at childhood. Loh was born in April, and with Easter being a very mobile holiday, it would always appear before, after, or sometimes the same weekend as their birthday. This meant lots of candy, cute bunnies, pastel colors would always be around their birthday! And as a pastime, Easter egg hunts were one of their favorite activities!
Loh loved to hunt for and hide stuff! And those little plastic eggs they would get? They’d use them to store their treasures when they finished eating the candy inside. And they would keep the colorful baskets to put their stuff in! It became their favorite holiday by proxy. The truth was, they knew Easter bunnies didn’t exist… but they were fascinated by the idea of one. A bunny that could lay eggs? Bunnies don’t do that! And they would have candy? To give to others? The very idea of a creature that would go out of its way to make candy and give it to kids and adults alike sounded too good to be true.
So much so, that they wanted to be one! But how? How do you just, become an Easter bunny? Luckily for Loh, it wasn’t their decision to make. It was their friend’s. A hyper intelligent dragon scientist friend (quite the mouthful!). That, unsurprisingly, Loh found as an egg. Though, he assured them, that was a ONE time thing and he just needed to recharge for a few decades… That dragon was well over a thousand years old. And knew how to manipulate reality in a lot of surprising ways.
You would think finding a fantastical dragon would have phased Loh, and it did! They were a kid when this happened, how cool was it to have a dragon as a friend! Anyone they would tell would surely be jealous, if they were not so good at keeping it a secret. That dragon friend loved Loh’s imagination. While he could make many mind-boggling inventions, it was always Loh’s creativity that would spark the ideas to make them. It’s how their close friendship was fostered. In this lifetime anyway.
Both unfortunately, and fortunately for Loh, this dragon has a long memory, and a desire to make his friend happy. Sure, Loh was just a kid when they said they wanted a way to become an Easter bunny, but the dragon lacked the common sense to know that, and spent years trying to find a way to create one. Or rather, turn Loh into one.
The “wish” Loh made to their dragon friend as a child… Eventually came true when they were ending their final year in high school. The dragon gave Loh a special egg to eat, and upon eating it. POOF! They were turned into a pink and gold bunny! That could of course lay candy eggs. A real life Easter bunny! They succeeded!
At first, Loh was mortified at such a transformation! At the time, they were a “he” and never imagined turning into a female. Let alone one that laid candy eggs! And turning into such a small adorable form? Like, seriously? But, their dragon friend was happier than they had ever seen them… They were tempted to demand a way to change back, but instead, they heard their dragon friend out. He did spend years finding a way to make such a fantasy a reality after all… And it was a pretty fantastical gift to refuse. Though, as they learned, there was really no going back.
The Anatomy
The rules were simple enough. Every year, as Easter approaches, Loh would turn into an Easter bunny. Or rather, it was originally just for a few days… Turns out making a “curse” was a bit trickier and that time frame grew longer and longer before finally stopping just a month out of the actual holiday. Something about “photosynthe-cells” that monitored the moon’s phases to guess the holiday. Eventually Loh learned to recognize when their body was going to change into a bunny, so they wouldn’t transform in awkward situations again.
The bunny design, that “chimera” state, was purposeful. The paw pads were necessary for grip and cuteness as the dragon said. And don’t forget the retractable claws so you can climb trees to hide those eggs! Why sharp teeth? Well, the dragon wanted Loh to still be able to enjoy their own candy, so carnivore teeth made more sense… Human teeth would have looked terrifying. And the dragon friend could speak fine with his own sharp teeth, so he imagined Loh would prefer them too. Buck teeth would make them sound funny anyway! As for the nose? Well, it looked cuter than a bunny nose, and a kitty nose had a better sense of smell. And pink was a given for a cute little girl bunny. As for the gold and other markings, that was always something inherently “Loh” in design.
This chimera bunny illusion state was tough enough… But what about the eggs? How did the dragon pull it off? After all, Loh is only the size of a large cat when they’re a bunny… Laying chicken sized eggs, and multiple at that... How do they all fit in such a small creature, and get past that conservation of mass and energy law of the universe? Turns out that was the trickiest part.
As an Easter bunny, Loh has an “interdimensional womb”. Patent pending. Her female anatomy twists quite literally into her very own “pocket dimension” containing a special womb-like organ capable of converting dark matter into… candy.
Why candy? Well, as the dragon scientist put it, they wanted to test a new technology that could potentially solve world hunger. Dark matter and energy exists in abundance, but no human found a way to use it quite yet. While not infinite, there exists more than can ever be consumed by a tiny bunny.
When Loh mentioned a magical creature existing that could lay candy eggs, it gave the dragon scientist an idea to test how such a thing could exist. And this was his solution. A hidden interdimensional organ that could copy simple candy recipes and convert dark matter into exact edible replicas.
Most foods expire, but candy has a long shelf life. It was the perfect subject to test such a unique biological technology. So, like many times before, Loh was a test subject, as they were many times for other technologies… but at least it turned out fun in the end. Loh couldn’t imagine how such a thing exists inside of them, or rather the pocket dimension she’s attached to? It was still surreal to think about, but ultimately all of it worked to one outcome: Loh is able to turn into a real Easter bunny, that can lay candy eggs at will, and they taste better than any candy that exists!
Over the years, Loh made a hobby of laying as many candy eggs as possible and hiding them in parks for all of her friends to find and enjoy! She loves to make her friends happy, and this was a gift for them! She even found herself always looking forward to turning into a bunny. Being so cute, and a girl, others would look forward to the transformation too! It made her feel… special for once.
Though, Loh did have one question… Why does she still have to lay them??? The eggs!?
“You said Easter bunnies lay candy eggs. What, did you just want them to appear in your hand or something? That makes no sense. This is all an intricate biological process, how would I even get that to work?”
Fair enough dragon scientist friend. Fair enough.
Misc. Easter Bunny Facts
- As a bunny, Loh is roughly the size of a large cat, but cuter.
- It’s impossible to mistake Loh for a regular rabbit. Like, how!?
- The eggs are the size of large chicken eggs, but can vary from baseball size to large marbles.
- Her fur is as soft as the softest minky fabric. Sofffff.
- Her pink fur smells like pomegranates by default, but temporarily changes to the scent of the. last reddish or pinkish fruit she eats. Think strawberries, apples…
- If given multiple candy commands, she will lay them in that order, no eggceptions.
- Her ears are a mystery. Straight up, bent, floppy, how do they work? No one knows.
- She can hear at great distances putting many hunting dog breeds to shame.
- Her favorite egg design is a Togepi egg. She always lays one each Easter at least.
- She can lay “Golden Eggs” to temporarily turn others into bunnies.
- “Bronze” eggs remove that temporary curse immediately.
- Silver eggs are special.
- Eggs she lays around Halloween glow for some reason.
- She has lost count of how many eggs she’s laid over the years. Probably in the tens of thousands.
- Despite having access to semi-infinite candy, she still needs to eat other foods to live. A candy diet would be miserable anyway.
- Since the candy eggs are made of “dark matter” and converted into regular matter, they actually contain no nutritional value whatsoever. But since when was candy eaten for nutrition?
- The eggs are designed specifically to be treats and are not a substitute for food in this way.
- Surprisingly, despite mimicking foods on a semi-molecular level, the candy eggs do not trigger food allergies, so go nuts!
- In early years, laying eggs used to hurt her and make her pass out.
- Now laying eggs is as mechanical and comforting as a quick hug.
- Laying too many eggs at once can still make her pass out.
- Thanks to her big bushy tail and long ears, she can sit like a hen and lay eggs anywhere without others seeing the act.
- She will purposefully give you a concussion by launching an egg at you Yoshi style if you try to watch her lay the egg on purpose. Don’t be weird about it.
- This does not apply to a partner or close friend. But still like, don’t look?
- Rumor has it that there are still eggs hidden from previous Easter events. She can hide them that well!
- Yes, those candy eggs are still good! As long as the candy shell isn’t cracked, the candy won’t expire! They’re similar to honey in that way.
- There’s a way to tell which year an Easter egg was laid. Think tree rings, but less conspicuous
- She doesn’t know how big her interdimensional womb is and she’s terrified to find out.
- No soul has disliked one of her candy eggs and lived to tell the tale.
- She can make explosive dynamite eggs. This is unrelated to the above fact.
- She’s too afraid to make such eggs for fears of blowing up.
- Her edible eggs are limited to candy recipes she’s eaten herself.
- Other foods can’t be laid because they… Don’t turn out right…
- You cannot force her to lay anything beyond candy.
- Consent is still a factor here, she likes giving people candy eggs so she allows the commands to work. She can ignore “commands” for candy from people that bother her.
- After years of practice, Loh has learned to make a few special eggs for self defense, medical assistance and amusement. She won’t reveal them yet.
- Okay but some medicines are kinda like candy, so some of her eggs can cure sore throats, heal wounds aloe vera gel style and so on.
- The yellow diamonds behind her ears and the one on her back can glow in the dark at will!
- She can make eggs that produce light like a lantern for when she hides them in the dark. The light mysteriously goes out when the egg is broken open to eat.
- Her sharp canines are in fact very sharp. She can and will bite you if you’re mean.
- Her paw pads are super soft and squishy.
- Her eyes are brown like her human form, the one thing that doesn’t change.
- When not in her Easter bunny form, Loh actually can turn into a few select other creatures too. If that form happens to be female, Loh can lay eggs in that form too! So like, an Easter Pikachu.
- Loh grew up playing Yoshi games and found the whole eggs as a weapon thing very interesting, they have decent aim with their eggs so watch out!
- Why does a seemingly random dragon give Loh her Easter bunny form? It’s just the story canon of her world. Other fantastical creatures exist in her world too you know, she’s just the only candy egg laying bunny to exist. Fire breathing dragons? Check. Rodents that shoot lightning? Check. Portals between worlds? Yep. She fits in just fine in her own way.
- There are more abilities and facts but I can’t think of them right now haha, if you read this far thanks!

‘Peanut Butter’ is back on the menu! :D
My partner is very allergic to peanuts, so we don’t keep them in the house if we can help it. (Other than an occasional candy that is kept on the explicitly-not-for-them shelf)
I love peanuts though. They’re a good protein, tasty, and peanut butter especially is very versatile.
Now, we keep some almonds, but they’re Expensive, so a bag of smoked almonds or a jar of almond butter is more of a treat than a regular thing.
But! Recently we got me some almond flour for baking with, and I learned I can make homemade almond butter for way cheaper than we could buy it!
Since then, I’ve made myself some and had it on bananas, apples, bread, in oatmeal, just by itself, and I’m enjoying it So Much. :D I’m very inclined to make cookies with it next.
#I do keep calling it peanut butter though xD#my brain is used to that flavor being peanut butter. even when it’s made with almonds#food
